Harvey Phillip Spector (born December 26, 1940) is an American record producer of the 1960s and 1970s. Arguably one of the most distinctive producers in popular music, he is the originator of the "Wall of Sound" production technique. Spector first rose to prominence as one of the pioneers of the 1960s girl group sound. Later he worked with varied artists, including The Beatles and the Ramones. In 2003 Spector returned to the public eye when he was indicted for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson in his home. |
